Hundreds of extras still needed for Jackie Robinson movie Starring Harrison Ford Sunday May 6th

Ford -- who has had a long career after playing Han Solo in “Star Wars” -- will play Dodgers President Branch Rickey, who hired Robinson. Chadwick Boseman will play Robinson, while Christopher Meloni of “Law & Order: SVU” also stars.

Extras will likely face eight to 12 hours a day of filming. But the extras will get free food, participate in a 1940s costume contest and compete for a chance to have a walk-on feature role.

100s of roles have been filled but lots more people are needed to fill background roles as baseball fans, players and coaches.

Sunday’s open casting will take place between noon and 4 p.m. at Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham.

Extras will be paid between $80 and $100 a day
